The Relationship Between Fathers Smoking Behavior And The Nutritional Status Of Toddlers In The Working Area Of The Benteng Selayar Islands District Health Center
Abstract
Background Smoking behavior is harmful to health, both for smokers and those in their environment, including young children in households with smokers. This can impact the health and nutritional status of toddlers, Objectives This study is aims to analyse the relationship between fathers' smoking behavior and the nutritional status of toddlers in the working area of Benteng Health Center, Selayar Islands Regency, Methods: This study is an observational cross-sectional research with 1.580 population, the sample size was determined using Slovin's formula, resulting in a sample of 94 toddlers, with 47 fathers who smoke and 47 fathers who do not smoke. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis (Spearman Rank), Results: The results of the Spearman rank test showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.012, which is less than 0.05, indicating a relationship between smoking behavior and the nutritional status of toddlers in the working area of Benteng Health Center, Selayar Islands Regency, Conclusion The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between fathers' smoking behavior and the nutritional status of toddlers in the working area of Benteng Health Center, Selayar Islands Regency.
